Welcome to Calcium Primary School!

Schools with comprehensive wellness policies promote healthy eating and physical activity, which helps improve a student’s academic performance, lower obesity rates and teach healthy habits for adulthood. FDRHPO is working with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County and the St. Lawrence County Health Initiative, Inc. to help schools draft and update individualized wellness policies.

Indian River Central School is taking advantage of the many opportunities that these organizations have to offer.  At Calcium Primary, Miss Bibbins' second-grade class helps Mrs. Purvis harvest some fresh lettuce from the Health Room grow tray system.  The lettuce is harvested every two-four weeks and is utilized in the cafeteria lunches.  Students are able to be a part of the entire grow tray process.  Lessons revolve around needs of a plant, how to plant a seed, parts of a plant that we eat, and how to harvest.

Calcium Primary is grateful for the opportunity to help students adopt healthy habits and promote school wellness!

Welcome to Calcium Primary Video

Students in 3rd Grade created a video orientation to our school.  We encourage families entering the building to watch the video.
